Baby’s enriched porridge

Baby’s porridge does not have to be all starch. It can be enriched and flavoured so that it is not only delicious, but also nutritious. Ingredients ¾ cup Millet 1 tbls Amaranth flour 2 tbls finely grinded roast Groundnuts 1 tbls Soya beans flour ¼ cup Refined maize meal Milk (optional) Sugar (optional) Cooking Method Bring 8 cups of water to boil in a saucepan. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl then add a little water to form a thick paste. Ensure you mix all the flour into the water. Pour the baby porridge flour paste into the boiling water and keep string until it thickens. Let it cook for about 12 minutes. You may opt to add milk and sugar to taste.  You may serve it hot or cold according to your preference. Notes This is a protein enriched porridge that is healthy for a baby. Milk flavoured porridge

A healthy baby is a happy baby. Making food for a weaning baby is sometimes stressful for new moms. More often than not, they tend to go on carbohydrate filled diet. You really cannot blame them; it is easier to make porridge, potatoes, spaghetti, macaroni, bananas, rice, and so forth. These foods can however be enriched with other foods in the other food groups such as milk, eggs, beans, groundnuts, soya, carrots, peas, amaranth and fruits. I will show you how to make milk flavoured porridge for baby. Ingredients 50gms Corn flour 100ml Milk 250 ml water Sugar to taste (optional) You may use different measurements for the porridge. How to Cook a Jacket Potato in the Oven

A jacket potato is also a baked potato.  When well cooked, a baked potato has a crisp skin and a fluffy interior. There are several ways of serving it. My favourite is with fillings and condiments such as butter, cheese or ham. Ingredients 4 large potatoes 4 knobs butter 100g (4 oz) grated cheese 1 carrot, grated Directions To cook a jacket potato in the oven, start off by preheating the oven to 130 C.   As the oven heats up, scrub the potatoes and then pat them dry with paper towels. Prick them with a fork three or four times on different places. Put the potatoes in the baking tin and put in the oven. Cook the potatoes for 15 minutes until tender. Remove them from the oven and then cut a slice lengthwise halfway through each potato. Add a knob of butter to each potato. There are many ways that you can make pickled eggs and beets. There are those who make it with no sugar, with cloves and so on. The easy and simple way of making them takes about ten minutes of preparation and twenty minutes cooking. In about four hours and thirty minutes, it is ready. It can be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks. The recipe here yields eight servings and it can be doubled for larger gatherings or servings. Although this may stain a plastic container, it is not advisable to pickle the eggs in a metal container since they will become slimy. These eggs are perfect as festive gifts, for picnic, family gatherings, and even as dinner decoration.
