To change an ignition switch on a car is quite easy using a video guide or clear instructions. There are instances where the ignition switch can be changed without removing the dash board. To get the job done, you need the replacement ignition switch, ratchet, self-powered test light, screw driver and a small piece of wire if the ignition switch is dashboard mounted. The instructions  are as follows: To remove the ignition switch which is dash-mounted, start by removing the dashboard carefully. Removing the small screws on the underside then prying.
