The cloud is here

Image
I don’t understand why this is making News, I mean; the cloud has always been there. Since you were born, have you ever seen the cloud missing from the sky? Now somebody started talking about it and now it is the hottest news. Wonders shall never end. Maybe it is a different kind of cloud. My curiosity led me to Google. To my unbelief, there is actually somebody selling space in the Cloud! And it is not cheap, if they are giving $500 discount for any new purchase, I can only imagine how much that space up there in the air is costing. Especially what they are calling the Private Cloud! My problem is not that there is someone selling storage space in the Cloud, my problem is with the people buying. How do you use your hard earned money to buy space in the air? Don’t you know that air is free? Tell me, how much do you pay for oxygen you breath in? The air you breathe is in your surrounding and yet you don’t pay for it. So why pay for space that is in nobody’s territory? T...

Unveiled: Amazon $50 Kindle Fire Tablet

Image
Following a slew of new products from Amazon, an analyst is criticizing the company's hardware strategy. In a note to investors, Macquarie Research analyst Ben Schacher explains the faults in Amazon's plan (Photo : Amazon | Tech Times) If this is an attempt to undercut Apple, then Amazon is doing really well. The most affordable 8-inch iPad mini goes for $270 while Amazon’s 7-inch fire tablet is only USD 50. Well, the big reason behind this move is make more consumers buy more digital good and merchandise from its store.  So the competition would ideally be on content consumption. This is certainly one ‘toy’ worth trying. Meanwhile, Apple’s latest iPhone and iPad has a 12-inch screen. There are those who, however, feel that this hardware is confusing and frustrating. Macquarie Research analyst Ben Schachter for example laments that Prime members do not get more benefits that are related to hardware. Again, Amazon is silent on any plans for AR ...

Google is always the number one choice. But why do you Google? I don't know about you but I Google because Google is my default search Engine and it has all the answers I am looking for. At times, Google even suggests questions I hadn’t thought of and gives me answers to those questions. How effective is that? Really cool! And then again, have you ever heard someone saying Yahoo it? or Bing it? or DuckDuckGo it? That sure sounds funny. But imagine you can actually DuckDuckGo … this is a customisable search Engine that does not track you. Or so they say. The Q/A section of this search engine is very interesting. You don’t have to scroll much and you will get what you are looking for very fast. The Meaning Section gives more insight on the search term. Get this; you can scroll both vertically and horizontally! Next time you find yourself and you can’t figure out why Google, DuckDuckGo!

Intel and Micron 3D XPoint technology

Image
Intel and Micron jointly announced a new memory class; their 3D XPoint technology.  Since the introduction of NAND technology in 1989, this is the first major new memory technology. During the unveiling, they claimed that this technology is 1,000 times faster, with 1,000 times greater durability and is 10 times denser than the conventional memory. This is indeed a very rare breakthrough in technology. This memory is said to be faster than a flash storage. Intel and Micron have already begun production of this non-volatile new class 3D XPoint technology which will no doubt bring great competition to NAND. Today, NAND is the most popular non-volatile memory with consumers in the marketplace. These will be rolled out to select consumers possibly towards the end of this year or early next year. "For decades, the industry has searched for ways to reduce the lag time between the processor and data to allow much faster analysis," said Rob Crooke, general manager and senio...

Creative ideas for a more interactive website design

Image
Websites have become more and more interactive. New and even greater interactive styles emerged thanks to creativity and easier programming languages. Every business or organisations needs to be on the World Wide Web to be able to meet their clients and also their potential clients. For this reason alone, they need to have attractive websites which are also interactive. Failure to do so, they lose to their competitors who may at times, offer inferior products to theirs. When creating the website design, keep in mind the target users. What would appeal to them and make them stay longer on your website? Once you address this, it is easy to come up with the greatest designs. For starters, you could go with the latest trends. You could always Google to find out which designs are trending at any given time. In 2012 for example, the flash component has been trending with multiple of different types of designs. The flash component is easy to use and highly interactive. Users also...

How to connect two computers together

Image
A router is a networking device that forwards data packets along computer networks. Some of these networks are wired connections while others are wireless connections. It is typically set for directing data transmissions from one computer system to another. To connect to the Internet without cords, you can use a wireless router which is very easy to install. They have therefore gained much popularity among users. A WiFi-enabled Lenovo laptop can be turned into a wireless router. This is achieved by installing Lenovo Wireless Laptop Router software into the unit. This software drives the unit’s wireless adapter to broadcast a WiFi signal just the same way as real wireless router would do it. The software can be bought and downloaded from the Internet. You should be careful though not to confuse the wireless router with the wireless access point. Remember that a router shares your single Internet connection to multiple users by acting like a traffic cop. An access point on...
