If this is an attempt to undercut Apple, then Amazon is doing really well. The most affordable 8-inch iPad mini goes for $270 while Amazon’s 7-inch fire tablet is only USD 50. Well, the big reason behind this move is make more consumers buy more digital good and merchandise from its store.  So the competition would ideally be on content consumption. This is certainly one ‘toy’ worth trying. Meanwhile, Apple’s latest iPhone and iPad has a 12-inch screen.

There are those who, however, feel that this hardware is confusing and frustrating. Macquarie Research analyst Ben Schachter for example laments that Prime members do not get more benefits that are related to hardware. Again, Amazon is silent on any plans for AR or VR gadget. So hopefully, Amazon will keep their end of the bargain and keep consumers smiling.

All in all, this “Amazon KFFOWI”, has great specs; running on Android 5.1, it has about 1GB of RAM and is powered by a 1.3 MHz quad-core MediaTek MT8127 Cortex-A7 processor. In addition to the 8GB of internal storage, it can be expanded up to 128GB using microSD card. The battery can last for up to seven hours. According to the Verge, this Tablet incorporates Amazon content such as Prime Music, Prime Video and Kindle ebooks.
