How to keep your Clothes looking new Longer

The perfect way to keep clothes newer longer is by giving them proper care during washing and drying. There are some clothes that never go out of style as much as fashion changes. With proper care, kids can outgrow their clothes while still in a tip top shape. Since they will keep newer longer, you may use the same clothes for the younger children.

Care instructions: The best way to keep clothes looking newer longer is by following the care instructions. These instructions can be found on the label of the clothes. When buying the clothes, you should pay attention to them. You do not want to pick up clothes whose care you can seldom provide. Some clothes require special care and are expensive to maintain. If you check out the label, you can be sure you are picking clothes that you will be comfortable caring for.

Sorting: Sort clothes by colour, fabric weight and fabric type when preparing for washing. Most people sort by colour only. Well, if you wash heavier fabric with lighter fabric, abrasions and fuzzing will give your clothes wash-worn look sooner than expected. If you mix fabric types, some clothes may get ruined by having fibres from other clothes stick to them. To keep them newer longer, wash linen with line, jeans with jeans, t-shirts with t-shirts.

Water and drying temperature: It is advisable to use cold water when washing all clothes. Although the label may say you can use warm water, stick to the cold. This way, you will avoid having clothes fade or shrink. However, if the clothes are very soiled and the label says it can be washed in warm water, you may use warm water for that particular washing. To keep the clothes looking newer longer, dry them in the shade. This especially works for darker clothes. Direct sunlight is known make clothes fade. However, to keep the white whiter, dry them in the sun. This is because white does not fade, it may only discolour.

Bleach: Detergent is enough for laundry. You do to have to use bleach all the time. Some bleach makes the clothes worn out faster. Even though bleach is used to disinfect clothes, it is not absolutely necessary. While choosing the detergent, also avoid harsh ones which may cause abrasion and make clothes worn out faster.

Washing and drying: Before washing clothes, ensure that they are buttoned up and the zippers are fastened. This includes other fasteners. This will avoid any damage that may be caused by the fasteners to the clothes by rubbing against the fabrics especially the sharp teeth of the zippers. Turn clothes inside out so that any glitter, beading, sequins, embroidery, etc. before placing in the washer. This will avoid abrasion and scrapping against each other. After washing, hang dry or damp dry them. Avoid over drying them as this tends to damage clothes. Lay heavy knits flat in order to avoid them stretching out of shape.
