I really miss those days when
Change is inevitable, as long as
time passes, there will always be a change.
But honestly speaking, #ireallymissthosedayswhen life was
simple. I miss my childhood days. Others would share in my sentiments. Find below
some of the things I really miss.
I really miss those days whentruth was in fashion. These were the days when telling a lie was the
biggest sin on earth. Nowadays people lie all the time and when you tell the truth,
you are the odd one out. What happened to our values? Newsflash: even a white
lie is a lie. A lie is a lie. And you will notice that when you tell a lie, you
have tell another to cover the previous one, and you end up telling a series of
lies. The big deal is that ‘When you tell a lie more than three times, you
believe it yourself.’ So this Chinese proverb is just alerting you that the
person you lie to the most is yourself. Truth is good, it sets you free.
I really miss those days when I was safe wherever I was.
You know those days when you’d go outside or stay inside without fear. Now insecurity
is so rampant and so unpredictable. If it’s not terrorism, it’s mugging,
reckless motorists, unsafe electrical appliances, even politics. You must have
heard of political wars. There’s nothing bad like being caught in the cross
fire, especially when you don’t even know what is going on.
I really miss those days when I was a young girl going
to primary school. I knew I would get the ‘maziwa ya nyayo’ milk given by the former
retired Kenya president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. This was a really good
scheme. Parents would be rest assured that their children were getting milk at
least twice a week. My class teacher would keep a few extra packets of milk for
the best behaved pupil in class. Trust me, I always had more than two packets
of milk every time we got milk.
I miss the days when I would go to the ‘kiosk’ (local
shop) with twenty shillings and buy a loaf of bread, a packet of milk, fudge
(and fudge was three times the size it is today plus it was sweeter), and ‘gudigudi’
(a caramel bar or was it?). I wonder if I can get that anywhere today. Then after
this shopping, I would go back home with some change. What can you do with
twenty bob today?
Treetop. This was the best fruit juice, wait, this was
the only fruit juice and it was very delicious. Original juice. Then came what
we have in the market today; ‘fruit juice’. If you want to be sure that the
juice you are taking is real, make the juice yourself. That is the only way you
can be guaranteed that you are taking real fruit juice.
What happened to the days when kids playing meant going
outside and engaging in real physical activities. Creativity was the order if
the day. Now the best games are done online. In fact we have professional
gamers; People who play games for a living. And they get addicted too. Thank goodness
there are videogame addiction rehabs. TV stations, no, the only TV station; VOK would
open at 4:00p.m.
