Studies show success in HIV drugs for prevention

All in a SanFrancisco Study; now there is a drug you can take that can prevent you from contracting HIV; the virus that causes AIDS. These are advances in medical science. Scientist are making drugs that act like vaccines yet, not being able to come up with an antidote. This is really interesting.  And it is making me wonder. Once upon a time, Prevention meant something totally different.

 Prevention is always better than cure. But a preventive measure that leads you to do the very thing that may turn out to be detrimental to you does not seem like a wise choice at all. Why would you willingly expose yourself to the deadly virus just because there are preventive drugs? What if they don’t get to work? What happens next? Shouldn't the solution that we should be looking for be how to completely get rid of the fatal disease?

If this drug becomes a success, then the social impact will be very big. Can you imagine how promiscuousness will increase incredibly? Imagine the number of people who have not been able to freely engage in irresponsible sex having the lee way and ability to practice just right anything they have ever wanted and without consequences. What does this mean for the future generation? Where once they were told the best way to stay safe is to abstain but now they are being told, you can swallow some pills and that is all you need to do.

The way I am looking at it is that this is a ploy to promote unsafe, irresponsible and meaningless sex amongst the living race. Do not be deceived. Prevention is better than cure. If you choose to use these drugs, you may prevent your body from getting sick but not your soul. Your soul will be very sick if you choose to go this way. Al right, there may be a reasonable way of looking at it; this drug may help partners who wish to be together when one of them is HIV positive. This can be a really good thing for such people.

Partners who wish to be together do not have to worry about their HIV statuses since that won’t matter any more. I can only imagine the number of couples out there who chose to end their relationship because of incompatibility (one negative HIV person and another who is HIV positive is considered an incompatible). Well, if they still want to be together, this is hope for such couples. However, there are those who have this ‘incompatibility’ and have been in unions and even married and they tend to live happily. So this drug does not seem to solve this problem.

How about drug users? They will no longer fear using that syringe; whether it has the virus or not, they can always use it because they know they have taken the preventive drug. The use of drugs will increase incredibly. Ideally, you are telling these poor drug users that it is OK to go on injecting themselves with drug since they will not catch HIV. What they are not told is that drugs also kill.

This leaves me to wonder; who stands to gain from all these?
