The Health Benefits of Adding Local Honey to ones Diet

The fresh, raw honey collected from your surrounding environment is called local honey. Honey is considered to be the healthiest of all foods. It is far better than normal table sugar. It’s sweeter and healthier. Not only healthy, but local honey also has amazing healing properties. The regular honey used in homes is clear and syrupy. Because it is heated, processed and pasteurized. Honey is said to be a living food.  All enzymes are destroyed along with all its natural food values when it is processed and heated. Local honey is unprocessed and unpasteurized. So it contains pollen, enzymes, anti-oxidants and many other compounds which are beneficial to health. Local honey will be produced by bees that live near your area. So the bees will adapt the immune system which is identical to your environment. So, it will be beneficial for you to take local honey as they contain the immune stimulating process which your body will be accustomed to.

Adding local honey to your everyday diet can boost your immune system. It is enriched in carbohydrate which supplies energy. It has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. Due to its low water percentage, it creates poor conditions for harmful bacteria to get colonized.  So, if stored properly, honey will last indefinitely without getting rotten. Honey is a well known cough suppressant. A study at Penn state college of medicine found that a little dose of buckwheat honey can be more effective than the regular cough treatment for children. Again a research from university of Auckland, New Zealand shows that local honey can also be used as a salve. Applying honey on burns, wounds, eczema, bleeding gums can prove effective. Local honey can be used as a remedy for male impotence and female infertility. It may improve blood sugar condition and insulin sensitivity. Raw honey also contains powerful anti-oxidant and phytonutrients which fights against cancer. It helps to treat ailments like ulcer, diarrhea.

It has been said that, local honey can serve like natural vaccination against some allergies. Some allergies are normally caused by floating pollen grains in the air. They enter our nose when we breathe and then cause scratchy and sore throats, running nose and red eyes. It is believed that local honey contains the same type of pollen spores which trigger a body’s immune system making it believe that it has been invaded. So, the anti-body is ready to  fight when it’s really invaded. Though there is no scientific inquiry about this till now.

You can add local honey in your daily diet by replacing your table sugar with it. You can use it by drizzling honey over breakfast toast, or using it in tea or just putting it over baked items like bread or doughnuts moreover, it is a nice and tasty dressing. Healthy as it is, local honey tastes better than regular honey. It’s buttery and has an amazing caramel flavor in it. In spite of its benefits, honey must never be given to babies under 1 year old.
