Milk flavoured porridge

A healthy baby is a happy baby. Making food for a weaning baby is sometimes stressful for new moms. More often than not, they tend to go on carbohydrate filled diet. You really cannot blame them; it is easier to make porridge, potatoes, spaghetti, macaroni, bananas, rice, and so forth. These foods can however be enriched with other foods in the other food groups such as milk, eggs, beans, groundnuts, soya, carrots, peas, amaranth and fruits. I will show you how to make milk flavoured porridge for baby.

Ingredients
50gms Corn flour
100ml Milk
250 ml water
Sugar to taste (optional)
You may use different measurements for the porridge. Make it to the consistency you are comfortable with or that which your baby enjoys most. It may be very light for beginner babies or slightly thick for babies who are used to taking the delicious drink.

Method
  1. Put 150ml of water in a saucepan and bring to boil.
  2. While the water is boiling, mix the flour with the remaining water until all the flour is missed into the water.
  3. Using a wooden spoon, pour the flour mixture into the boiling water and stir continuously for two minutes.
  4. Add the milk into the porridge and continue stirring for another three minutes.
  5. Leave it to simmer for five minutes.
  6. Once it is ready, cool it then add the sugar to taste.

You may substitute the sugar with honey, glucose or any other sweetener. Serve warm or cold.
